Prices of more liquid assets have softened in July, as illustrated by positive returns of the European Corporate Loan S&P Index (+2.7%) and the Euro Stoxx 50 (+5.5%). Spreads of our lower mezzanine tranches of European CLO have tightened in July, but they widened again upon month-end after reconsideration of Europe’s dependency viz. energy and geopolitical tensions. Nevertheless, we believe this environment can give rise to attractive opportunities that can outperform in most scenarios and resist downside anticipations.
